Miami Regional University is saddened by the loss of life that has taken place in the past days and pray for those unjustly touched by these tumultuous times, following the death of George Floyd which has caused such pain in our communities.
We do not condone violence of any kind, including the continued crisis of hate-driven violence as well as the crimes committed by rioters that dishonor urgent calls for justice. We pray for all those affected and harmed by the ill intended riots and condemn those who have taken advantage of this horrible tragedy for their own benefit, or who have used it as a platform to injure other innocent victims. We support the right to lawfully and passionately protest racial injustice which has been exercised by many through our community and beyond. We pray for enlightenment, guidance and protection to help unify our nation so that we may serve as a pillar of strength and hope. We pray for peace in our nation, and in the hearts and minds of all those impacted by these events.
We would like to remind members of the MRU community of resources available to students and staff through Wellconnect and New Horizons. Students, please continue to reach out to faculty or staff with any questions or concerns. We are here for you and wish each and everyone one of you well. We commend your perseverance in working toward your dreams in this period of uncertainty.
